San José City Hall, City Offices to Close for Christmas and New Year Holidays

SAN JOSE, Calif. (December 19, 2019) - San José City Hall and other City offices will close December 24 to January 1 for a furlough. All City offices will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2020. The San José Police and Fire Departments, along with other critical City services, will remain unaffected by the closure.

Customer Contact Center: The City’s Customer Contact Center will be closed on this City-observed holiday. An answering service will provide information and assistance to callers during the holiday. Non-emergency requests requiring follow-up will be routed to the proper department and handled during open business hours.

Library Schedule: All City libraries will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 to Wednesday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday and will resume normal business hours on Thursday, December 26. As well as, on Tuesday, December 31 to Wednesday, January 1 for the New Year’s holiday and will resume normal business hours on Thursday, January 2.

Community Centers: Residents should check with their local community center for hours of operation during the holidays. Community Center information is available at www.sanjoseca.gov/prns or in the Citywide Activity Guide.

Garbage and Recycling Service: If residents’ garbage, recycling, and yard trimmings collection day falls on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, collection will be one day later that week. Residents can contact their garbage, recycling, or yard trimmings company to report missed collections, damaged carts, or to change cart size.
