Background: The City of San José and community partners are excited to celebrate Fourth of July with residents by hosting free professional fireworks shows at Lake Cunningham Park and Almaden Lake Park.

Almaden Lake Park is the site of the ninth annual Fourth of July Fireworks Festival hosted by the Almaden Valley Women’s Club, Rotary Club of Almaden-Willow Glen, and the office of District 10 Councilmember Arjun Batra. The festival begins at 3 p.m. and will include live music, food trucks, and a fun zone before the fireworks begins at 9:15 p.m.

The office of District 8 Councilmember Domingo Candelas is hosting the first-ever fireworks show at Lake Cunningham Park. The event starts at 7 p.m. and participants will be able to enjoy food trucks and activities prior to the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

City officials are teaming up to share details about these family-friendly shows and critical information on the tremendous dangers of illegal fireworks, and how to keep the community safe by reporting violators online. In addition to the scheduled speakers, representatives from the San José Police Department (SJPD), Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services (PRNS), San José 311, and more will also be present.

The City of San José wants to remind all residents to leave fireworks to the professionals. In addition to personal injuries, illegal fireworks cause thousands of preventable fires every year that damage property and the environment.
