Attention San José golf enthusiasts! Exciting things are coming in full swing! Under new operations management, San José’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) golf courses can look forward to greener pastures ahead.

Earlier this year the City of San José proudly announced a new partnership with golf management company CourseCo with promises of “exciting enhancements and improvements” coming soon to PRNS golf courses.

“Our team is dedicated to providing an exceptional golfing experience while contributing to the robust community culture that already exists at the course today,” said Michael Sharp, CEO and President of CourseCo, in a statement addressing San Jose Municipal’s (Muni) announcement. “We look forward to working closely with the community and delivering a golf course that everyone can be proud of.”

The golf community is thriving in the City of San José.

Since then, Los Lagos and Muni, saw many of these promises come to reality throughout the year. One of its most exciting updates is its newly installed TopTracer driving range, a feature not many golf courses have.

“The addition has been incredible,” said Scott Siegfried, general manager at Los Lagos. “It has elevated the experience for all skill levels.”

Through TopTracer’s cutting-edge technology, golfers can now practice at the range in an engaging way. On-screen, they’ll receive live data feeds of their swing, keeping track of their stats such as speed, angle, and shot distance.

“With TopTracer, you will be able to know to the yard how far you are hitting each club before you head to the first tee,” Siegfried added.

While experienced golfers can use it to track progress and refine swings, everyone else can also enjoy their time with it through a series of competitive challenges. Some of these challenges include “Closest to the Pin,” “Points Game,” and “Longest Drive,” which players of all skill levels can enjoy. Another game mode, “Virtual Golf,” allows players to immerse themselves in virtual versions of other famous golf courses around the world.

Los Lagos commented on other renovations as well. With new paint jobs to infrastructure, their restaurant’s refined food and entertainment options, and plans underway to reseed the green with Bermuda grass, CourseCo is setting the San José golf community on the right course.

“2024 was a big year for Los Lagos,” Siegfried continued. “Whether you are a beginner and are drawn to us because of the extra par 3’s or a seasoned player who is looking for a challenge, there is something for everyone.”

Children can also start getting into golf too. Our other PRNS golf course, Rancho de Pueblo, will be continuing junior beginner lessons through First Tee, a youth program dedicated to kids and teens’ development through golf throughout Silicon Valley.
