On Friday, February 14, 2025, the San José Fire Department (SJFD) hosted a graduation ceremony at City Hall and welcomed 18 new firefighters to its ranks. Firefighter Recruit Academy 24-03 successfully completed an intense 20-week training academy. These recruits took on the physical and mental challenges of firefighter training to gain the skills necessary to serve and protect the City of San José.

These new firefighters were warmly welcomed to SJFD in front of City officials, SJFD personnel, friends, and family. The graduates will now begin their careers as probationary firefighters on Sunday, February 16, delivering critical services to our community.

Special thanks to the dignitaries present for the ceremony, including Mayor Matt Mahan, City Manager Jennifer Maguire, and Councilmembers Rosemary Kamei (D1), Pamela Campos (D2), David Cohen (D4), Michael Mulcahy (D6), Bien Doan (D7), and George Casey (D10).
