Background: Almaden Lake Park has renovated its playground to 0.50 acres for an all-inclusive play area for people of all ages and skill levels to participate in play. This is the fourth all-inclusive playground in San José.

This upgrade to the playground was designed to provide access to sensory and physical play for children and adults of all ages. The construction includes music and play structures, quiet spaces, ADA restroom upgrades, seating, bioswales for stormwater, and associated irrigation.

The playground was partially funded by the County of Santa Clara’s All-Inclusive Playground Grant Program.

The addition of all-inclusive playgrounds is a key part of equity and access initiatives under ActivateSJ, PRNS’ 20-year strategic plan to maintain, improve, and expand facilities, programs, and services.
