Background: The City of San José is excited to join residents in celebrating the Fourth of July and encourages everyone to do so responsibly.

The office of District 8 Councilmember Domingo Candelas is hosting a free fireworks show at Lake Cunningham Park on July 4. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature 18 food trucks offering a variety of delicious options, a live performance by Sonora San Jose, and family-friendly activities leading up to the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

The San Jose Giants will also host postgame fireworks on July 4 and July 5 at Excite Ballpark. A game ticket is required for entry.

City officials are coming together to promote these professional, family-friendly events and to raise awareness about the serious dangers of illegal fireworks. In addition to the scheduled speakers, representatives from Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services, Information Technology (San José 311), Animal Care & Services, and other departments will be present to share important safety information.

The City urges everyone to leave fireworks to the professionals. Illegal fireworks cause permanent injuries, spark devastating fires, and lead to more lost pets on July 4 than any other day of the year.
