SAN JOSÉ MAYOR SAM LICCARDO’S STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR NEWSOM’S REJECTION OF PG&E’S PROPOSED BANKRUPTCY PLAN

Post Date:12/13/2019

San José, CA— In response to the Governor’s rejection of PG&E’s proposed bankruptcy plan and fire victim settlement, San José Mayor Sam Liccardo — who leads a coalition of 154 elected officials urging PG&E’s transformation into a customer-owner utility — has issued the following statement:

“I commend Governor Newsom for recognizing the flaws of PG&E’s proposed bankruptcy plan. Our coalition of 154 elected officials—representing the majority of PG&E ratepayers—urge the transformation of PG&E to a customer-owned company that will align its interests with those of the public and fire victims. We’re ready to get to work to ensure that our residents get what they deserve: a safe, reliable, responsive utility.”
