San Jose Mayor and City Council Endorse Plan to Make PG&E Customer-Owned
City Council adopts resolution supporting Mayor Liccardo’s proposal to transform PG&E into a customer-owned utility
San Jose, CA — Today, Mayor Liccardo and his San Jose City Council colleagues voted unanimously to formally support a resolution endorsing Mayor Liccardo’s plan to transform PG&E into a customer-owned utility. The Mayor’s plan is also endorsed by 133 members from 58 counties, who represent more than 8 million PG&E customers.
“I’m grateful to my Council colleagues for supporting our efforts to urge the transformation of PG&E into a customer-owned utility. It’s time to relinquish PG&E’s negligence to history books, and to restore the public’s trust. Together, we can and built a utility that provides residents with reliable, efficient, and safe power, ” said Mayor Liccardo.
The adopted resolution states that “ratepayers --including businesses and residents--critically need a utility company focused on placing the provision of reliable, safe, and affordable power above the interests of its shareholders.”
