Happy Hollow Park and Zoo 2025 Partners

Happy Hollow Park & Zoo Announces Newest Wildlife Conservation Partners: Happy Hollow is excited to announce grant awards totaling over $70,000 in support of the conservation of endangered wildlife globally. In partnership with Happy Hollow Foundation, the 2025 Quarters for Conservation grant funds will support the rewilding of tortoises seized from the illegal wildlife trade in Madagascar, help monitor and protect rapidly declining vulture populations in South Africa, and support education and habitat restoration for macaws in Costa Rica. Call for Submissions — Sports-Themed Photographs for City Hall Display: The City Manager's Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs (OEDCA) seek submissions for new or previously shot digital sports-themed photographs. These photographs will be displayed between January-July 2026 on monitors in public spaces in City Hall, in conjunction with the 2026 sports events. The deadline to submit is Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. Apply to be a Creative Ambassador: Make your dream creative project for your San José community happen as a City of San José Creative Ambassador. Opioid Overdose Prevention Grant Program is Accepting Applications: Government agencies and nonprofit agencies with 501(C)(3) status are encouraged to apply for this funding opportunity to implement prevention services and awareness initiatives to reduce opioid overdoses and related deaths in San José. The application is available on Webgrants, and the deadline to apply is Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at 4 p.m. For more information, visit the Opioid Overdose Prevention Grant Program webpage.

Save on Solar and Battery Storage with San José Clean Energy: Income-qualified homeowners can save on solar and battery storage through incentives in partnership with Haven Energy. Eligible households can add a battery to their new or existing rooftop solar system, covering up to 100% of costs. Everything from applications and design to installation and 10 years of maintenance is covered. There are no out-of-pocket costs, credit checks, or property liens required. September Park Volunteer Events: Volunteer to clean up San José parks with the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department. Volunteer events provide a fun way for residents to enjoy outdoor spaces and support their community. All volunteers ages 6+ are welcome to participate. Participants under 18 are required to present a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Volunteers are given the necessary tools and training and are asked to bring a water bottle, snacks, and closed-toed shoes. Spooktacular Movie Nights at City Parks

Viva Parks Spooktacular Movie Nights: Summer may be over, but the fun continues with a series of special events leading up to Halloween. Join Viva Parks for Spooktacular Movie Nights featuring Halloween-themed films, lawn games, activities, resource booths, food trucks, and more. These free, family-friendly events are open to all ages and provide a safe and festive way to celebrate the season. Wilderness in Reach: Join Friends of San José Family Camp on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Leininger Center, 1300 Senter Road, for a special fundraising event that brings camp traditions into the heart of San José. Guests will enjoy a family-friendly evening with dinner, crafts, games, a campfire, and a live auction. Save the Date Annual Neighborhoods Conference: The third annual Neighborhoods Conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City Hall Rotunda. This free event connects neighborhood leaders, City staff, and partner agencies to share resources, build community, and learn how to access City services that keep neighborhoods safe, clean, and engaged. Registration will open soon, and BeautifySJ will notify neighborhood associations once it opens. Successful Job Fair at Mexican Heritage Plaza: More than 500 job seekers attended the Hiring Now Job Fair on Thursday, Aug. 21, hosted by the City Manager’s Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs work2future at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. The event featured nearly 30 employers, including Gardner Health Services, Intermolecular, and the City of San José.
