City of San José Offers Business Tax Amnesty Program for 2026: The City of San José is offering a limited-time Business Tax Amnesty Program, allowing businesses and landlords to settle past-due taxes without incurring penalties or interest. The Business Tax Amnesty Program runs from now through Dec. 31, 2026. After this period ends, the City will increase tax enforcement and assessment, which could significantly increase your business tax costs.

You may be eligible if your business has:
  • Never registered with us;
  • Past-due business tax; or
  • Underreported employees, square footage, or number of rental properties.

San José Mineta International Airport (SJC)
New amenities at SJC to explore and enjoy:
  • Poppy’s Essentials Market, located near Gate 33 in Terminal B, offers travel essentials, snacks, beverages, health and beauty items, tech accessories and local goods.
  • CLEAR has launched new biometric eGates, enhancing and modernizing the passenger experience. Located at the TSA PreCheck lane at Terminal B, the eGates enable CLEAR+ Members to move through security checks even faster – arriving just in time for the busy spring break travel season.
  • Parking lot shuttles can now be tracked in real time using the free Transit App. Passengers can open the app while at the airport to view shuttle locations and wait times between the parking lots and terminals.
  • In partnership with local startup IntBot, SJC is debuting an interactive, AI-powered humanoid robot designed to assist travelers in real time. The robot, named “José,” uses advanced multimodal AI to greet passengers, answer questions in more than 50 languages, and demonstrates how emerging technology can enhance the airport experience and showcase the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley. José will be located near the Zoom Zone in Terminal B.

Older Adults Art & Wellness Fair: Celebrate older adult creativity at an Art & Wellness Fair on Friday, April 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Leininger Community Center. This citywide showcase will feature artwork from 14 community centers, along with interactive art and wellness experiences, including chair exercises and a paint party. Older adults can register to attend at a community center or online at www.sjregistration.com.

BeautifySJ Neighborhood Forum: Neighborhood leaders are invited to attend an upcoming forum at Emma Prusch Farm Park on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Department of Transportation will present on traffic safety, traffic calming, parking enforcement, and planned street improvements. The Great American Litter Pickup: Join the Great American Litter Pickup on Saturday, April 18, a citywide effort to help keep our neighborhoods clean and welcoming. Volunteers of all ages are invited to remove litter and improve public spaces from multiple locations throughout the city. Clean-up supplies will be provided. Registration for Summer 2026 Recreation Programs Opens Soon: Save the dates below to register for Summer recreation classes and activities. All registrations begin at 10 a.m. Priority registration is in person only at San José community centers, while all other registration is available in person at local community centers or online at www.sjregistration.com.
  • Wednesday, April 22: Priority registration for scholarship-eligible families.
  • Wednesday, April 29: Registration for Older Adults 50+ program members.
  • Saturday, May 2: General registration for San José residents.
  • Monday, May 4: General registration for non-residents.
San José Public Library (SJPL)
  • Vote for Your Favorite Educator: The San José Public Library, lead City department for the Education Initiative, is proud to announce its 2nd Annual San José Educator of the Year Award to honor local educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4 - 8, 2026. The Library invites students, parents, colleagues, and community members to nominate an outstanding Tk-12 grade educator now through April 15. Each award recipient will be recognized with a commendation from the San José City Council and will receive a $500 award made possible through the generous support of the San José Public Library Foundation.   • Annual Spring Into Poetry Contest: You are invited to participate in the 6th Annual Spring into Poetry Contest in celebration of National Poetry Month. With four age categories, the top three winners in each group will receive a prize bundle that will include books, writing supplies, and more. The winner’s work will also be published in a special online collection through the library's Short Edition portal and featured in Short Edition dispensers at select library locations. San José Animal Care x Habbas Law Adoption Event Success: On Saturday, March 28, Ruff on Injustice with a Heart for Paws Day turned compassion into action, bringing the community together for a high-energy, feel-good adoption event. A total of 68 pets found homes over the weekend — made possible by Habbas Law, which generously covered all adoption fees — including 50 adopted during the event itself, as community members opened their hearts and welcomed new companions into their families. We were also proud to collaborate with community partners, including San José Public Library and shelter supporters like RFRD Academy, AdoptMyBlock, and Coffee Companions, who kept guests energized with free coffee.

March Madness in San José: San José welcomed fans from across the country for the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s West Region Basketball Tournament “Sweet Sixteen” and “Elite Eight” rounds. The games took place at the SAP Center on Thursday, March 26, and Saturday, March 28. Known as March Madness, it is a single-elimination tournament played to determine the men's college basketball national champion of the Division I level in the NCAA. Visitors enjoyed SuperFest at San Pedro Square, Drone shows at Discovery Meadow, and free concerts with DJs Diesel and Whethan. Inaugural Day of Service: On March 26, 600 employees deployed across the City for the inaugural City of San José One Team, One City, One Community Day of Service. The event brought employees together, from across departments, to give back to the community through a variety of hands-on volunteer projects. City employee teams worked to address community needs while strengthening connections with one another and the community. Employees dedicated their time and energy to serve lunch at Senior Centers, as well as to perform beautification projects such as planting trees and painting a colorful mural, clean up trails and making blankets for the Animal Care Center.
