What:
Help shape what San José looks like in 2040!
The Planning, Building and Code Enforcement Department invites you to take part in its General Plan 4-Year Review by attending one of its Open Houses. The public can learn about the General Plan, the City’s guiding document for growth and give input on how it should evolve before planners make recommendations to the City Council.
The General Plan 4-Year Review is focused on four key areas: Urban Villages, Residential Capacity, Missing Middle Housing, and Jobs to Employed Residents Ratio.

The events are presented by the City of San José’s Planning Division.
Background:
The City of San José is conducting its third 4-Year Review of the Envision 2040 General Plan, which will take place through Summer 2026. The public is encouraged to learn about the plan and give input that will help shape how the plan will evolve including where new homes, offices and other developments are built. City Planners will collect the feedback and make recommendations to City Council on how to update the plan.
