Background:
The Office of the Independent Police Auditor (IPA) invites community members to attend an Open House to learn more about the Independent Police Auditor Advisory Committee (IPAAC).
Community members do not need to be experts in police oversight to attend. The Open House is an opportunity to meet the IPA team, learn about the committee’s purpose, and understand how residents can help strengthen accountability, transparency, and public trust in San José.
IPAAC members play an important role in supporting community-centered police oversight. Members provide feedback on IPA public reports, outreach efforts, and policy recommendations. The committee also discusses trends and issues related to police oversight and participates in educational sessions on legal standards, City policies, and best practices in police accountability.
During the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:
Meet members of the IPA team
Learn about the role and responsibilities of IPAAC members
Ask questions about the application and selection process
Learn how community members can contribute to police oversight in San José.
Whether you are interested in applying to serve on IPAAC or simply want to learn more about the committee and the work of the Office of the Independent Police Auditor, we encourage you to attend.
Applications to become an IPAAC member will be available at the Open House or online.
All community members are welcome.
