The San José Fire Department is hosting a commemorative ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, on Friday, September 11, 2026. Join us as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the courage, sacrifice, and service of first responders and community members. This free public event is open to everyone.

Save the Date
  • Date: Friday, September 11, 2026
  • Start Time: Procession begins at 10:45 a.m.
  • Location: Downtown San José
First responders will come together on Patriot Day to form a procession from South Market Street and West San Fernando Street to Fire Station 1 (255 N. Market Street). After the procession, there will be a brief outdoor commemoration ceremony followed by a reception hosted at the San Jose Fire Museum located next door (201 N. Market Street).

About Patriot Day
Patriot Day is observed each year on September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. It honors those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as those who have died in the years since from illnesses related to their response and recovery efforts. The day also provides an opportunity to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of first responders and community members who responded in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
