Early childhood education and bustling workplaces team up at Bright Horizons/Skyport

Post Date:02/10/2020

It's good news any time there is an opening of a childcare facility with room for more than 100 children ranging in age from six weeks to five years old, in a brand new building, with beautiful play areas, cozy corners, tons of enrichment and healthy meals.

But put that center on the ground floor of a cluster of commercial office buildings less than a mile from an international airport in the heart of Silicon Valley, and you have a partnership that is pretty unusual. Developer Hudson Pacific worked with Bright Horizons, a national provider of quality early education, to bring child care close to San Jose parents' workspaces. Any parent will tell you, that's priceless reassurance!

This February saw the formal ribbon-cutting at Bright Horizons/Skyport, on a breezy Saturday that brought out parents, kids, the San Jose City Librarian, a City Council Aide , and the Deputy Director for Economic Development.  The center can accommodate 142 kids, providing an extensive curriculum of art, music, language, movement and even STEM. Mitzy Garcia, the Center Director, welcomed the guests, and City Librarian Jill Bourne helped cut the ribbon, watched by San Jose City Councilmember Raul Peralez' Aide Bridget Brown, and Chris Burton, Economic Development Deputy Director and a former Bright Horizons parent himself.

This is the first early childhood education center located in a new office development in San Jose, and is a welcome addition to the city’s child-care infrastructure.

Bright Horizons/Skyport is located at 90 Skyport Drive, Suite 100. For more information, email or visit the website. .
