BeautifySJ Staff and Volunteers Remove 38 Tons of Trash in January

In the month of January, city staff and volunteers removed a total of 38 tons of trash from streets, creeks and neighborhoods in comparison to 21.68 tons in the previous month, representing a trend of exponential growth. PRNS volunteers are essential to these efforts, they collected 13.7 tons or 35% of the trash in January. The BeautifySJ Initiative coordinates litter pickups, trash abatement at homeless encampments, and neighborhood and school clean-up events. The BeautifySJ Initiative builds community pride by bringing people and organizations together to remove litter and trash in our city.
