Summer Volunteers Make a Difference

Post Date:08/10/2018

July was a busy month for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Volunteer Management Unit. PRNS received over 1100 hours of community service, which were donated at 22 volunteer events at City parks. The 400 volunteers were residents from local neighborhood associations, corporate employees, high school students, club members and environmentally aware citizens that wanted to make a difference in City parks. Volunteers participated in activities, such as clearing trails at Alum Rock Park; painting the white, picket fence at Fuller Park in north Willow Glen; trimming bushes at Windmill Springs Park in east San José; and promoting blue oak growth at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park in south San José. For more information, please contact Justin Long, PRNS Deputy Director, at (408) 793-5579.
