Welcome to the City Clerk's Language Access page.  Our goal is for all members of the San Jose community to have access to City Council and Council Committee agendas in the language they are comfortable using.  We understand that even people who are comfortable using English, may prefer or appreciate accessing their local government in their native language.  Please refer to the information below to find the resources that can help you.

How to Translate Agendas and webpages: 

For agendas, go to the Calendar and select the meeting.  Click on Meeting Details and open the "HTML Agenda"--this is the version that allows you to use your internet browser's translation capabilities.    The instructions below work for most webpages.  Please note, the City does not guarantee the accuracy of automated translations.

• Google Chrome: Right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [your language]. (Mac users may need to use the manual method below)
• Microsoft Edge: Right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [your language], or click the Translate icon in the address bar.
• Apple Safari (Mac, iPhone, iPad): If the page is in another language, click the Translate button in the address bar and choose your language. Enable in Preferences → Languages if needed.
• Any Browser (manual method):
  1. Copy this page’s web address (URL) from your browser’s address bar.
  2. Go to Google Translate.
  3. Paste the address into the box on the left.
  4. Select English as the “From” language and your preferred language on the right.
  5. Click the translated link that appears.

Tip: This works for most web pages. Some document viewers or secure sites may require the manual Google Translate method.
