Please note: Cats are free to roam. Cats brought into the shelter will be evaluated by staff prior to acceptance. You may be required to return the cat to the area where it was found. If you found kittens please visit our Kitten page.

Is the animal injured?
If you have found a stray dog or injured stray cat and need our Animal Control Officers to pick it up, you can call us at 408-794-7297. An officer will pick it up from your residence as soon as they can at no charge.
found a pet after hours?
If you encounter an animal emergency outside of regular business hours, you may:
- Call San José Police Non-Emergency line: 408-277-8900 or 911 if there is a public safety risk.
- OR take the animal to any of the local 24/7 emergency veterinary clinics listed below.
