Rescue Partners

helping pet organizations meet their mission

We work with many rescue groups who find the pets they wish to champion in our kennels. Rescue groups may have a specialty that interests volunteers or fosters and we encourage you to get involved in their cause. No matter how you participate in helping pets, it all makes a difference.

We recommend that our rescue partners check our Needs Rescue list daily to find pets who need the most help. Rescues can select any pet in our database.

RESCUE PARTNERS: Needs Rescue List

Can anyone adopt a Needs Rescue pet? Yes, with an understanding of the pet's special need. Email us at SJRescue@sanjoseca.gov to learn more.

Below is a sampling of some of the rescue partners we work with regularly. Want to see your rescue organization on this list? Scroll down below the list to see instructions about how you can be added here.

 Attention Rescue Partners

Thank you for all you do to support our shelter and community.

We encourage registered rescue partners to utilize our Rescue Portal, and learn more about animals who are the “Needs Rescue List". With the Rescue Portal, registered rescue partners may:

  • View and print medical records
  • Access to behavior and playgroup notes
  • The ability to place animals on hold for your rescue in real time

If you are interested in becoming a registered rescue partner, or want more information about the Rescue Portal, please contact SJRescue@SanJoseCA.gov.
