The City Hall Exhibits Committee (CHEC) is the advisory body that, in conjunction with the City Hall Exhibits Program, reviews and approves proposals for exhibits in public spaces in San Jose's City Hall and provides input in visioning process for future exhibits. The City Hall Exhibits Program, managed by the Public Art Program, places exhibits in public spaces in City Hall for the public benefit. As part of the City Hall Exhibits Program policy adopted by City Council, exhibits fall within the following themes:

• Our History—exhibits illustrating the history of the City of San Jose;
• Our Community—exhibits providing information on the varied neighborhoods and residents of San Jose;
• Our Creativity—exhibits illustrating the visual and performing arts in San Jose and the South Bay; the many contributions to technology and innovation from San Jose and the South Bay;
• Our Government— exhibits on a range of topic related to functions and activities of the City.

The CHEC is appointed by the Arts Commission and includes visual arts professionals from San Jose and the South Bay, as well as several ex-officio members related to City Hall operations.

Meetings

The CHEC meets on an as-needed basis: meeting frequency is determined by the need to review proposed exhibits in order to develop an exhibits schedule plan.

Meeting location: CHEC meetings are hybrid, available virtually online and are also held in public meeting rooms in City Hall. Please note that per City policy, members of the public who wish to comment on an item must be physically present at the meeting; comments are not taken from those attending virtually.
