Empowering San José Youth to Lead Climate Solutions
The City of San José has been selected to participate in the Youth Climate Action Fund, a global initiative supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies that helps cities partner with young people to advance local climate solutions.
Through this program, San José will provide financial support to youth-led projects that address climate challenges in our community and align with the City’s Climate Smart San José goals.
What to Expect
The Youth Climate Action Fund program will roll out in phases over the coming year:
- Summer–Fall 2026: The City will launch an open call for youth-led project proposals
- Fall 2026: Selected projects will receive funding
- Fall 2026–Spring 2027: Youth teams will implement their projects with City support
- Spring 2027: Project outcomes and impacts will be shared
Who Can Participate
The program is open to projects led by young people (ages 15–24) who live in San José.
Projects must be:
- Youth-led
- Aligned with San José’s climate priorities and address local climate challenges
- Designed to benefit the San José community
Funding will be distributed to eligible organizations (such as schools, nonprofits, or community groups) that support youth-led projects.
