The Climate Smart Challenge invites members of the San José community to lower their greenhouse gas emissions, save money, and engage in the fight against climate change. It’s a fun and easy way to track the steps you’re taking to reduce your carbon footprint and includes a range of actions, helpful tips and resources for you to track your financial savings and carbon emission reductions. It also provides you with an opportunity to compete with your fellow community members.

2024 Climate smart summer challenge - recap

Over 50 San José residents joined our three-month Climate Smart Summer Challenge, taking action on transportation in July, home energy in August, and food and waste in September to live more sustainably and win eco-friendly prizes. By the end of the Summer, participants:

• Completed 735 total actions
• Saved 107,150 lbs of CO₂e annually
• Saved $30,020 annually

While the 2024 Summer Challenge has concluded, San José residents can still join the Climate Smart Challenge today to track their carbon footprint and discover sustainable solutions!
