The goal is to empower residents to come together to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in San José. In addition to combatting climate change, many of the actions also save money and will improve our indoor air quality and health. The program is a fun, easy way to connect with your neighbors and make a big local impact.

1. Get your team together
Reach out to neighbors, friends, or members of your community group to form a team committed to living more sustainably!

2. Complete the Climate Solutions Meeting Series
The GoGreen Teams program entails a guided series of fun and interactive meetings covering various climate topic areas, including energy, transportation, and food and waste. We will provide everything your team needs to complete the meeting series including videos, games, actions, and discussions. At the virtual training, we will provide you with a Team Leader Toolkit and walk you through all the materials and resources you will need, sharing some tips for creating your team, and answering any questions you may have.

3. Track your impact along the way
The Climate Smart Challenge online platform accompanies this program and allows teams to take what they have learned about climate solutions and put it into practice by committing to and taking actions on each topic area while also being able to see the quantifiable benefits of your impact as an individual and as a team.

4. Celebrate your achievements and continue living sustainably!

The program consists of 4 hour-long meetings, with a flexible schedule tailored to participants’ preferences. We recommend meeting every other week, but the cadence is up to you!

You decide. Most leaders will invite 4-8 others to join them in taking action. You can build an amazing community on your street, get to know your neighbors better, and mutually benefit from a connected block. Or you could work with friends, coworkers, family, members of your book club, running crew, faith community, etc. It is important they live in San José so you can easily meet together, share resources, and work together locally.

Together, you will learn how to reduce your carbon footprint, live healthier, save money, and have a lot of fun along the way.

It’s easy! All you need to do is invite your friends or neighbors to learn about the program and facilitate an initial meeting. After the first meeting, hosting and facilitation is shared and your team will work together sharing responsibilities (you will be provided everything you need for meetings so this will be easy for all). You will also be the main point of contact with us for the program if your team has questions. We will be inviting team leaders to come together a few times during the program to meet each other, share stories, celebrate successes, ask questions and learn from each other. Finally, we will be here to help, answer questions, and support you along the way!
