Recyclers & Haulers

San Jose's Exclusive Hauler

Republic Services has an exclusive franchise (approved May 5, 2020) to provide solid waste collection services to businesses in San José.

To protect public health, businesses are required by San José Municipal Code to have solid waste collected at least once per week.

Construction, Demolition, and Residential Clean-Out Haulers

Businesses and residents may choose their own hauler from our list of non-exclusive haulers. While we have agreements with each of these companies, it is up to you to negotiate pricing and specifics.

Learn more by visiting our Construction and Demolition Debris webpage.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

For guidance and disposal options for hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs, visit the webpage for the County of Santa Clara's Hazardous Waste Program. Businesses that generate small quantities of hazardous waste may qualify to use the County's Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) Disposal program.

Medical waste hauling services are regulated by the State Department of Public Health and Santa Clara County. For a list of registered medical waste transporters, visit the website for California Medical Waste Management Program.
