The Wet Receptacle Assistance Program (“WRAP” or “the Program”) helps San José businesses and institutions reduce their environmental impact and comply with Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383). San José businesses and institutions may qualify for free receptacles to collect organic waste, also known as “Wet” waste, in the City of San José’s ("City") Commercial Solid Waste System. 

Properly sorting and disposing of organic waste at your business or institution helps fight climate change by preventing the emission of powerful greenhouse gases. It is also required by California state law.  

Approved businesses and institutions can select a variety of receptacles, lids, and dollies from the City’s Approved Products List, with a value of up to $500 per site, including tax and shipping. Approved businesses or institutions must place a single, one-time order within 30 days of the Program approval email.

Who Qualifies for the Program?

To qualify for the Program, a business or institution must:

• Be located within the City of San José
• Be subscribed or have access to Wet service from Republic Services
• Agree to comply with all SB 1383 requirements

How to Apply for Wet Receptacles

1. Complete and submit the online application. You are not required to order at this stage. The information shared in your application will be made available to the City’s authorized vendor for Program use only. 
2. Wait for application approval and ordering instructions. Expect a response within 2 weeks of submitting your application. 
3. Select equipment and place your order with our vendor. Review the equipment offered by our authorized vendor on our Approved Products List. Place one order of up to $500 per site, including tax and delivery, within 30 days of Program approval. Equipment will be delivered to your site in 1 to 3 weeks.
