Enrique: From Low Motivation to Successful Housing Search

Enrique became homeless during the pandemic. He was able to find a place to stay at the City's Bernal interim housing community. However, he came to Bernal with low motivation and he was not optimistic about finding permanent housing.

But during his time at Bernal, Enrique met weekly with his case manager who used motivational techniques to support and encourage Enrique. The case manger was able to assist Enrique in obtaining his immigration paperwork, connecting him with housing resources, and searching for job opportunities. Before long, Enrique was conducting his own weekly housing searches.

Enrique was able to find a vacant studio at San Antonio Place in Mountain View. He loved the apartment, and his rental application was approved. Enrique had his permanent home!

HomeFirst supported Enrique in applying for financial assistance to cover his security deposit, and provided him with a housing kit, which included kitchen supplies, toiletries, and bedding. HomeFirst also assisted Enrique in obtaining a dining table and chairs for his studio.

Enrique is extremely grateful and humbled to have found stable housing after years of homelessness. Way to go Enrique!
