"Patrick" and his girlfriend were living in an encampment near downtown San José, enduring the hardships and instability that come with life on the streets, when they were fortunate to find space at the City's Guadalupe interim housing community.

Patrick's struggles with addiction had escalated following the profound personal losses of his mother and cousin in rapid succession. These tragedies affected him deeply, leading to a downward spiral and complicating Patrick's effort to maintain stable housing.

Despite these challenges, Patrick persevered and worked towards his goal of moving back into permanent housing. Thanks to his case manager and the dedicated LifeMoves staff at the Guadalupe community, Patrick and his girlfriend were able find a one-bedroom apartment.

With the mental and physical trauma of homelessness now behind him, Patrick is able to focus on rebuilding his life, maintaining his recovery, and enjoying the many small wins that come with long-term stability. Patrick couldn't have been more appreciative of his second chance and all the people who stuck by him to make it possible.
