About the GovAI Coalition Summit
The GovAI Coalition Summit brings together leaders in government, industry, and civil society to develop the future of AI in the public sector. Attendees will discover cutting-edge AI trends, ethical practices, data management, hands-on workshops, share real examples of AI solutions and use cases in government. Sessions will also explore inclusive adoption and innovative policy development.
2025 GovAI Coalition Summit
Join the City of San José and GovAI Coalition, in partnership with Government Technology, at the 2025 GovAI Coalition Summit November 5-7, 2025. The summit will be open to all Coalition members for keynote speakers and informational sessions November 5-6, with a Government Town Hall on November 7.
The summit will be hosted at the San Jose Convention Center in San José, CA.

GovAI Coalition Summit 2024
The inaugural event was hosted December 4-5, 2024 at the San Jose Convention Center, hosted by the City of San José and GovAI Coalition, produced in partnership with the Center for Public Sector AI and Government Technology.

On December 6, GovAI Coalition members attending the summit met to exchange best practices across agencies and charted the next steps in AI for the public good.
Highlights of the GovAI Coalition Summit
- A Unified Vision of AI Governance: Sessions guided attendees to utilize GovAI Coalition resources, including how to implement AI policies, to promote the use of AI for the public sector is responsible and protects the privacy of our residents.
- Innovative Use Cases: Coalition members and private sector vendors shared real-world applications of AI in the public sector including areas like transportation, cybersecurity, and sustainable development.
- People-Driven Policy: Sharing public engagement methods that sets the foundation for responsible AI policies from resident input and direction. Sessions emphasized the importance of engaging the public in AI decision-making to ensure systems align with community needs and build trust.
- Mitigating Risks: Panelists highlighted concerns surrounding AI, focusing on reducing algorithmic bias, mitigating cybersecurity risks, and addressing social and environmental impacts, while emphasizing the need for robust governance frameworks to guide AI adoption in public sector services. These measures aim to ensure the equitable and responsible use of AI, effectively tackling both ethical and operational challenges.
- AI Playbook for Leaders: A program track specifically for elected officials and government agency leaders to learn foundational insight, strategy, and opportunities to set a course for the future of AI in government for 2025.
