Lynn Lee, chief of staff
A San José native, Lynn brings a deep commitment to public service and local engagement. She has several years of experience with the City of San José, including roles in the City Manager’s Budget Office and the Office of Economic Development, where she led cross-departmental initiatives focused on effective program delivery and strategic resource use.
In addition to her work in local government, Lynn has built partnerships across the nonprofit, private, and civic sectors. Most recently, she launched a community-based internship program at Presentation High School in District 6, connecting students with meaningful career experiences throughout the City. She serves on the board of the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy and is a member of the Girl Scout Giving Circle. She brings a collaborative approach, strong relationships across the City, and a passion for systems-building to her role in advancing the priorities of District 6.
Lynn holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Gonzaga University and an M.A. in Applied Economics from San José State University. Outside of the office, Lynn enjoys trail running at Quicksilver County Park and exploring new parks with her husband and young son.
JoSeph Mauro, Legislative & Policy Aide
Joseph, a Bay Area native, is a dedicated public servant with a strong commitment to advocating for his community. Before earning his B.A. in Political Science from UCLA in 2023, Joseph earned his associate degree in Political Science from Diablo Valley College. Joseph has a background in organizing for candidates and public policy at a local and national scale, with an emphasis on economics and electoral policy. Additionally, he worked as a policy and constituent services intern for the Office of the 16th Assembly District, where he drafted briefings to track legislation and recognize local businesses.
Outside of work, Joseph enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling and exploring new places, and giving back to the community through volunteerism. He is excited to work for the residents of District 6, working to advance policies that strengthen neighborhoods and improve the lives of all who call the district home.
Jessica Hellman, Community Relations Coordinator
Raised in San José, District 6, Jessica attended Willow Glen Elementary, Middle, and High School before earning her B.A. from UC Santa Barbara in 2024 with a dual major in Political Science and Communication. She graduated with High Honors, Distinction in the Political Science major, and was honored with the Undergraduate Education Award by the Deans of the College of Letters and Sciences.
At UCSB, Jessica competed in collegiate Mock Trial, worked as a content creator for the University, and served in Student Government as the 2023-2024 Attorney General. Through the Political Science Honors Program, she led an original investigation into the complex relationship between online extremist rhetoric and offline violence.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Jessica is known for baking elaborate treats to share with friends, family, and anyone who has a sweet tooth. As the eldest of five, she takes pride in being a dedicated and supportive big sister. Jessica enjoys running, traveling to experience new cultures, and discovering bakeries in San José.
Karina Castro, Legislative & Policy Aide
Karina was born and raised on the East Side of San José, District 5. She earned a degree in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies from San José State University. During her time at SJSU, Karina took on a leadership role with the Chicanx/Latinx campus organization, mentoring first-generation students through both academic and social challenges.
She expanded her expertise by interning at a law firm in Barcelona, Spain, where she gained practical experience in international legal practices. Before joining District 6, she was a fellow with the Paragon Policy Fellowship, where she assisted Los Angeles City Council Staff in navigating the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy.
In her free time, Karina is deeply passionate about Ballet Folklorico. She is an active member of Los Lupeños de San José, where she connects with her Mexican Heritage through dance. Karina enjoys performing for the community, exploring new coffee shops, and discovering hidden gems throughout San José. Driven by her commitment to making a positive impact, Karina is focused on advancing policies that promote growth and well-being of the San José community.
Amber White, Executive Assistant
Amber was born in San José and has lived in California her entire life. She is a highly organized executive assistant with a strong passion for public service. Amber plays a key role in ensuring smooth office operations, community outreach, and exceptional constituent services.
With experience in both government and non-profit sectors, she is committed to making a positive impact on her community. Amber strives to provide efficient and thoughtful support to local leaders and their initiatives.
Outside of her professional life, she enjoys mountain biking, playing pickleball, and exploring new destinations with her husband and two daughters. Her dedication to both her career and family reflects her core values and desire to make a meaningful difference.
