City of San José Launches New Financial Assistance for San José Municipal Water System Customers
The City of San José has launched a one-year Water Customer Financial Assistance Pilot Program to support eligible low-income and vulnerable San José Municipal Water customers whose water service has been disconnected due to financial hardship.
The pilot program is designed to ensure affordability and prevent service disconnections among the most vulnerable populations. The Pilot adds to the resources currently available to low-income, vulnerable customers of Muni Water, which is owned and operated by the City of San José and serves Evergreen.
Eligible customers must qualify for low-income or vulnerable customer status by demonstrating income eligibility or participation in programs such as Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, or WIC. Residents who believe they qualify due to low income or vulnerable status can apply online through the city's website, where information and application forms are available in multiple languages.
The City offers payment plans to help make utility payments more manageable. Additional utility payment assistance is available through Sacred Heart Community Services. Muni Water regularly promotes water-saving tips in multiple languages to help customers reduce their water bill and save money.
Information on the Pilot and other payment assistant resources can be found at www.sanjoseca.gov/WaterPaymentResources.
