SHIRLEY Feliciano - Executive Assistant

Shirley FelicianoA lifelong resident of District 9, Shirley is passionate about her community. She handles office administration, scheduling, community outreach grants, constituent services, as well as database management. 

She has also supported executives from the private, non-profit and governmental sectors. In addition to providing excellent administrative support to Councilmember Foley and the District 9 Office, Shirley enjoys roller skating, hiking, and spending time with her daughter.

SCOTT HUGHES - CHIEF OF STAFF

Scott Hughes_Resized UpdatedScott was raised in Colorado and moved to California to attend Sonoma State University. As a Physical Education major, Scott studied Kinesiology and outside of the classroom played NCAA soccer. Prior to joining the District 9 team, Scott was the Vice President of Marketing & Sales for a political firm in Silicon Valley, consulting on all types of political campaigns from the local to federal levels.

Scott has been serving the residents of District 9 since 2013, and enjoys spending time with family, volunteering, and just about any outdoor activity.

Kyle Laveroni - DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF

Kyle LaveroniKyle was born and raised in San José Council District 9. Kyle holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration as well as a master's in Urban Planning from San José State University. Kyle also holds advanced certificates in Transportation and Land Use Planning and Applications of Technology in Planning.

In his time at San José State University Kyle worked extensively on transportation safety research and authored his thesis on the safety benefits of quick build traffic safety projects. Kyle's work on sustainable freight transportation has also been published by the Mineta Transportation Institute.

Kyle joined the City of San José in 2019 and is honored to have the opportunity to serve the residents of District 9 by applying his experience and education in urban planning. Kyle previously worked as an auditor at Ernst and Young. Kyle has a passion for sustainable transportation, vibrant communities, and good public policy that improves the everyday lives of San José residents.

In his free time, Kyle enjoys backpacking, reading, and exploring San José’s wonderful array of restaurants and attractions.

claire bang - communications director

Claire BangClaire was raised in San José's Council District 9 in the Valley View/Reed Neighborhood. She graduated from California State University, Chico in 2021 with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. During college, Claire interned with three different companies in both marketing and public relations roles. After graduating, she worked at Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) before joining the District 9 Office in April 2022.

Claire continues to expand her knowledge and education by taking online courses, volunteering, and attending professional development programs. Claire combines her passion for public relations, content creation, and the community to extend resources to our neighborhoods, create cohesive communications for the District 9 Office, and build lasting relationships between our office and residents.

In her free time, Claire enjoys cooking, home improvement projects, and camping across the West Coast.
