On January 13, 2026, the City Council approved Council Policy 7-15.  This policy prohibits the use of City parking lots, vacant lots, and garages for civil immigration enforcement staging areas, processing locations, or operations bases.  

A key feature of this Policy is making standardized signage available for private property owners, authorized tenants, and community institutions who choose to use it. 

The signage states that the property is privately owned or controlled and cannot be used for purposes not authorized by the property owner, including civil immigration enforcement staging, processing, or operations.  

Private property owners, authorized tenants, and community institutions may download, print, and display the signage using the .pdf files below.  Participation is voluntary.  The City of San José assumes no responsibility or liability related to the use or display of the signage.
