    Workshops

    Workshop Description
Panel: Safer Neighborhoods - Collaborating with Police for Community Safety  This panel discussion brings together community leaders and local law enforcement to explore ways residents and police can work together to create safer neighborhoods. Panelists will share strategies for building trust, improving communication, and developing partnerships that support crime prevention and community well-being.
Welcoming San José This workshop will provide an overview of important community services and safety resources available to residents. Participants will learn about local support programs, including services designed for new arrivals and immigrant families, as well as guidance on reporting procedures for emergencies or community concerns. The session will also introduce the Rapid Response Network, which helps protect immigrant rights and connects individuals to urgent assistance when needed.
    Know Your Neighborhood Park
Parks should be the heart of every neighborhood—places to play, connect, and recharge. From morning walks to family celebrations, they shape daily life and strengthen community bonds. Yet keeping parks safe, clean, and thriving takes ongoing care and resources. This workshop will give residents an inside look at how San José’s parks are funded and maintained, what challenges exist, and how the City is working to close those gaps. Participants will learn about current and upcoming park projects, ways to get involved in improving and advocating for their local parks, and a potential Parks Ballot Measure that could secure long-term funding for repairs, ongoing maintenance, and future improvements.
    Free City Services for residents
This workshop introduces community members to the wide range of free services offered by the City. Participants will learn about programs that promote recreation, education, and community engagement. The session will highlight how to access these resources, who qualifies, and ways to stay connected to future opportunities. This workshop is designed to ensure every resident knows what their city provides and how everyone can have access.
Santa Clara County Services, Opioid Awareness and NARCAN training
This workshop provides vital information and hands-on training to help keep our community safe and informed. Participants will learn about Santa Clara County services available to support individuals and families, gain a deeper understanding of the opioid crisis and its impact, and receive NARCAN (Naloxone) training to respond effectively in the event of an overdose.
Advocating for your neighborhood: The Power of Two Minutes

Speaking for two minutes during public comment may seem brief, but it is a powerful tool for civic engagement. Residents can bring attention to an issue, share personal stories, or advocate for change directly to decision-makers.

Though short, those two minutes amplify community voices and can spark dialogue, accountability, and change at the local level.

San Jose Tomorrow: Being Led by our Young Leaders
Neighborhood Watch programs are essential in fostering safer, more connected communities. Learn how to collaborate with local law enforcement, organize watch groups, report suspicious activities, and engage your community in crime prevention efforts. Whether you’re starting a new watch group or revitalizing an existing one, this presentation will provide valuable insights to keep your neighborhood safe and united.
    Strengthening Your Neighborhood Association
This interactive workshop, led by a panel of experienced neighborhood leaders, will focus on strategies to build stronger, more active, and sustainable neighborhood associations. Panelists will share their own successes and challenges, offering practical tools for increasing resident engagement, improving communication, and fostering collaboration with city departments and community partners. By the end of the session, residents will leave with new ideas, resources, and inspiration to strengthen their neighborhood associations and create positive, lasting change in their communities.
