STEP 2: Click on the event link of choice. You will be directed to the Eventbrite.com registration page. This is where you will register for the event.

STEP 3: After you have registered, please fill out the following form by clicking this button:

STEP 4: Once completed, print, sign and bring the form with you the day of the event.
Extra forms will be available at the event.

Important Volunteer Information:

Pre-registration is required for all events.
Volunteer Service Agreements are required of all persons attending the event.
All persons under 18, must have a parent signature.

The capacity for most volunteer events is 50 participants.

Volunteers must be at least 6 years old.
High School “Community Service Hours” are awarded to park volunteers
All volunteers must complete a Volunteer Service Agreement

Weed
Mulch
Weed and clean tree basins
Rake leaves

One Day Volunteer Events

Corporate Volunteer Events

Alum Rock Trail Crew

Join the crew that keeps the hiking trails safe, clean and secure every 2nd Saturday of the month from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. No experience is necessary. Event will be held rain or shine.

What to bring and what to wear:

Tools will be provided
Choose clothing you will feel comfortable hiking and moving around in.
- We often work tearing down weeds with thistles and thorns - Your clothing choices matter for this event.
Sun hat and Sun screen
Long sleeve shirt to protect from ticks, thorns, poison oak, and sun
Long pant legs are required. To protect from ticks, thorns, poison oak, and sun
Closed toed shoes are required. Sturdy sneakers or hiking boots are recommended.
Filled water-bottle and snack.
A small backpack to carry items in throughout the event.

Driving directions: Cell reception is not guaranteed in this remote area. We recommend those dropping-off and picking-up arrive a little early to locate our group. We will meet at the Mineral springs parking lot, it’s about a 3 mile drive from the Penitencia Creek Road entrance.

Drive past the entrance booth on the main road. Keep driving and the road will narrow to one lane, follow the traffic light and keep going.
Once you reach the old trestle bridge, the road will split, turn to the left.
The road will end in the Mineral Springs Parking Lot near the Youth Science Institute.
Go to the end of the parking lot and look for a large green truck that says "Park Volunteers," and you'll know you are in the right spot.

Note: Parking is inside the park, located in front of the Youth Science Institute.

Scout Volunteer Projects

Adopt-A-Park or Trail

The purpose of this program is to recruit, train, and support individuals and groups who would like to take an active role in keeping our parks healthy and clean for the entire community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Everyone is welcome! Individuals, community groups, service clubs, schools, faith-based organizations, neighborhood associations and youth groups are just some of the volunteers that can adopt a park or trail.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

A minimum one-year agreement, renewable at the end of the period.
Individual volunteers are expected to complete 8 hours a month.
Groups of 4 or more are expected to complete 16 hours a month.
