San Jose Pop-Up Permits

New Service! Pop-Up Permits offers a convenient way to get personalized guidance from a City building inspector or permit specialist, and makes it faster and easier for residents and contractors to get started on small residential projects that require a building permit.

Stop by to:

  • Talk to an expert about what you need for your next home project
  • Start a permit application or get an online permit
  • Have a City Building Inspector provide feedback on your plans
  • Thinking about an ADU? Talk to a City Planner or our ADU Ally

For fastest service, come prepared with questions, plans and submittal forms.  If your project qualifies for our Over-the-Counter Service, upload your complete submittal package prior to the pop-up and your permit could be issued at the event.

Curious what your project might cost? See the Building and Structure Permits Fee Schedule. Our new Building Fee Estimator can also help you research residential project and ADU costs.
