Residential Parking Permits

Residential Parking Permits (RPPs) are not processed at the Permit Center at City Hall. For information about the Residential Permit Parking Program, visit our RPP webpage.

Tow-Away Permits

1. Processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the permit, missing or inaccurate information, if further information is required, and/or the volume of permit requests. Please allow up to two business days or more for the processing of Transportation Permits. Tow-Away and Transportation permit applications can be submitted on the getaPERMIT website.
2. If submitting a Tow-Away Permit application, it is strongly recommended that applications are sent at least two weeks or more in advance, to help guarantee permit issuance in time for your start date. Make sure to carefully complete all required fields. Follow the instructions provided in the Information Panel in the mapping system.
3. As your application is being processed, you will receive automatic emails detailing information or steps needed to proceed with your application. Once your application has been approved and paid for, you will receive pickup instructions for any Tow-Away signs you may have purchased. If paying via check or cash, please visit the cashier desk at City Hall on the 1st Floor. If paying by check, make checks payable to City of San José.

Important note regarding enforcement (5/24/22): Tow-support is currently only available Monday through Friday and based off staff availability.
