Speeding is the primary cause of fatalities and serious injuries in San José. In 2022, 670 people were killed or injured in speeding-related collisions.

We can end this.

WHEN YOU SPEED IT’S HARDER TO STOP.

On average, a car driving 25 mph takes about 30 feet to stop.

At 35 mph, it takes 59 feet – nearly twice as long.

When you drive over the speed limit, you’re more likely to hurt or kill someone. The faster you drive, the less time you have to react. And stopping takes longer. 

Crash energy increases exponentially as speeds go up. For every 10 miles per hour increase, the risk of dying in a crash doubles. You are four times as likely to die in a crash at 45 mph than at 25 mph. 

LET’S PUT A POSITIVE SPIN ON IT…

Driving the speed limit makes it much easier to avoid a crash.
