District 2 Bernal to Bailey Participatory Budgeting Round 1 Result
The CALMS Camera project that many voted for in Round 1 of D2’s Participatory Budget process (November 2016) is currently being worked on by the City Manager’s Office and community members. The City of San Jose has determined that the best way to implement the project is to contract with a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Given the uniqueness of the project it was difficult to find an existing non-profit to contract with, therefore, the City and community members decided the best way to move forward was for the project’s proponents to form their own 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. The process is currently pending and the expectation is that once the nonprofit status is finalized a contract will be completed and the project implementation will begin. The City Manager’s Office is currently working on the contract that will fund the project.
Updates to this project will be posted on D2’s Participatory Budgeting Project Winners website. For any questions, please contact Vanessa Sandoval at the Office of Councilmember Jimenez at Vanessa.email@example.com.
