Financial Transparency

The City of San José is committed to providing comprehensive financial information to the public that is accessible through the City’s website.

This effort includes providing the numerous publications that are developed each year as well as a financial transparency portal that serves as an interactive reporting tool that allows users to explore the City’s financial data online in various graphical formats selected by the user. In addition, a link is provided to the California State Controller’s Office Government Financial Reports website that reports on the revenues, expenditures and other financial data reported by California’s 58 counties, over 450 cities, and over 4,800 special districts.

Financial Documents

The City of San José publishes numerous documents each year regarding the City’s budget and finances. The current and historical annual operating and capital budgets, bi-monthly financial reports, Mid-Year Budget Reviews, Annual Reports, and five-year forecasts published can be found on the City Manager’s Budget Office website.

The current and historical Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs), Comprehensive Annual Debt Reports (CADRs), quarterly investment reports, purchasing quarterly contract reports, and the citywide cost application plan published can be found in the Finance Department.

The California State Controller’s Office Government Financial Reports provides data on the revenues, expenditures and other financial data reported by California’s 58 counties, over 450 cities, and over 4,800 special districts.

This website allows users to review, compare, visualize and analyze data, including comparing the performance of several cities at a time.

Free viewers are required for some of the attached documents.
