Permit Renewal Options
There are three ways to renew:
- Online at sjpermits.org
- Pay in-person at City Hall in the Permit Center on the 1st floor
- Mail a check payable to “City of San Jose Multiple Housing”. Please write the permit number on the check and mail with payment slip.
If you need assistance, email MHProgram@sanjoseca.gov or call 408-535-7770.
For permit holders who would like to renew online, visit sjpermits.org and click on the "Pay fees" button. You will need your RSN number in order to renew your permit. The RSN number is listed in the invoice.
Owners of Tier 1 buildings will also need to complete the self-certification affidavit during the online renewal process. Tier assignments are listed on the Multiple Housing roster. See the Residential Occupancy Permit Renewal Guide or the video tutorial.
Go to sjpermits.org and click on the "Pay fees." A RSN number is required in order to proceed with the renewal process.
The RSN number is listed on the ROP invoice.
All of the buildings on the Multiple Housing roster were checked for a record of permit violations. Buildings with no permit violations moved up from tier 3 to 2. Buildings that had a permit violation moved down one tier. The reassigned buildings appear on the list of Yearly Tier Update and the current invoice reflects the change in service level. The Multiple Housing Program FAQs provide information about the Multiple Housing Program and 3-tier service delivery model.
