In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep the public and our staff safe, City offices are closed until further notice and select City services have been suspended. The programs/services described on this page are suspended until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.
Our Department of Transportation (DOT) crews continue to provide essential services such as storm drain and sewer maintenance. Help them stay safe and focused on critical needs by keeping wipes, fats, oils, and grease out of the sewer system.
Please call DOT Dispatch at (408) 794-1900 to report any roadway hazards such as: sewer back-ups, storm flooding, missing/damaged traffic signs, malfunctioning traffic signals, and broken tree limbs.
For questions regarding existing Tree and Sidewalk permits, please contact (408) 794-1901 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
To apply for a street tree planting, removal, or pruning permit, email email@example.com. Please include your name, email address, property address, and a brief description of your request.
Permits are required to plant, prune, or remove street trees. The goal is to ensure that street trees are planted and pruned correctly according to established professional standards.
Permits are provided free of cost. Both property owners and tree care professionals must have a copy of the permit on site before any tree work may begin.
Trees outside of the public right of way are under the jurisdiction of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement, which has a separate tree removal permitting process. A permit is not required to plant or prune a tree outside of the public right-of-way.
City policy regarding the proper procedures, care, and maintenance for street trees can be found in the Tree Policy Manual and Recommended Best Practices document.
