Signs of an emergency broken traffic signal

  • Flashing red signals
  • Turned signal head or lamp outage
  • All signal heads are completely out (indicates power outage)
  • Automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians are not getting a green light or a walk symbol

Signs of a non-emergency broken traffic signal

  • Travel direction gets a short green light when there is a lot of traffic, or long green lights when there is no traffic

What to include when reporting

  • Intersection street names and the travel direction
  • Approximate time and date of the malfunction
  • For turned signal heads or lamp outage please specify whether the signal head is mounted over the street or on the side of the pole
